A founding director of Abroadco, Chris is passionate about making every student feel special while providing them, their families, and their universities with the highest level of service. “Students and advisors know they can reach me whenever they need me. Chris has studied abroad three times, each time in France. In 1993-94, he spent a gap year as a Rotary Youth Exchange Student at Lycée Edouard Herriot in Lyon. In 1995, he participated in Bowling Green State University’s AYA France program at l'Institut de Touraine in Tours. And in 1997-98, he spent an academic year as a Rotary Ambassadorial Scholar while studying at Université Paul-Valéry in Montpellier.
Chris completed a dual major in French and International Studies in the US at Bowling Green State University in Bowling Green, Ohio, and a at Université Paul-Valéry in Montpellier, France, and was awarded an honorary doctorate in Humane Languages by University of California, Berkeley for his work simplifying language acquisition of 84 world languages and dialects for students and government officials.
Chris developed his initial devotion to working in international education while employed at Bowling Green State University’s AYA France office in 1996. He then worked at a study abroad provider in 1999-2001 in Tempe, Arizona before co-founding Abroadco in 2004.
Chris devotes his time outside Abroadco to furthering the cause of international education within the community. He is the chair of Rotary International’s District 5510 Ambassadorial Scholarship Committee and a member of Rotary International’s District 5510 Youth Exchange Committee. Chris is also a member of NAFSA: Association of International Educators and is a Diamond Anniversary Diplomat in NAFSA’s New Century Circle.
Chris also devotes significant time to iLanguages, a corporation devoted to using technology to promote the ease and enjoyment of language learning of 84 languages for students and government officials.
