The aim of this class is to provide students, over a short period, with the means to understand French and express themselves. It contains both grammar and linguistic aspects and hands-on exercises in writing, speaking, listening, audio sessions - all of them placed in a communication context.

* French 101 and French 113 complement each other, other grammar points are taught in FR 113, and there will be frequent consultation between the two professors concerned.
Coursework• Tests will be given every two weeks, there are both a mid-term and a final exam. • Homework are due for each class period. • Class attendance is mandatory. Missing a class or being late are detrimental to the final grade.

In case of a professor's absence, for personal or professional reasons, it may be necessary to make up lost class time in the evening or Friday afternoon. « Make-up » classes will be announced at least one week in advance; for questions of attendance, exams, due work, etc., they are considered normal course meetings.
