I wanted to give a plug for a  website that provides cultural preparation for students studying abroad.  It's called "What's Up with Culture?" - http://www.pacific.edu/sis/culture/.  It's an on-line cultural training resource for study abroad and has a lot of valuable information, broken up into very manageable sections with some individual exercises.  It also has a section on reentry issues, which is very important when you come back and have to readjust to the US!

This is a great resource for any student who wants to go beyond reading the Abroadco culture shock handbook.  I especially encourage students going on semester and year-long programs to take a look at the website and go through some of the exercises.

Welcome to my blog!  I created this blog to provide a forum for discussion about study abroad in general, and about Abroadco programs and students in particular.  If you are a past or current Abroadco student, I encourage you to submit your own "blog" to me for posting here.

If you don't know me, I am the Director of Programs here at Abroadco and am responsible for all of our locations overseas, as well as preparing students for their study abroad experiences.  I have more than 15 years experience in study abroad, having worked in university study abroad offices as well as for study abroad providers.  I want to make sure that our students have the best possible experience they can have so wanted to include both an idea of what studying abroad is like once you're over there as well as some useful information you can use while you are preparing for your time abroad.
