Course Description

This course is intended to provide the student with an introduction to the philosophical and ethical issues facing managers in a variety of organizational settings. Theories of ethics and social responsibility will be introduced and then applied using the case-study analysis approach. Cases will encompass situations involving employees, employers, consumers, government and today’s society. We will explore important topics including employee privacy, whistleblowing, discrimination, advertising, and product safety. Also we will make a special focus on the different approaches to ethics in the US in contrast to Europe. The class should allow you to recognize and thoughtfully approach the difficult ethical and philosophical decisions in business today
