Full DescriptionCourse DescriptionIn this cultural studies course which incorporates an anthropological approach, students will have the opportunity to learn about contemporary Italian society and culture through both theoretical analysis and direct experience. The course will deal with Italian history, social organization, politics, economy, and key cultural features such as kinship and gender roles, guiding students towards a deep understanding of the interrelation between these aspects. Classes will provide students with basic culture studies research methods, and will encourage them to utilize real-life observations as sources for their understanding of the concepts analyzed in class. Course descriptions may be subject to occasional minor modifications at the discretion of the instructor. Textbooks During orientation at the Institute, students will receive a list of textbooks they are required to purchase. Students should not purchase any texts before orientation.
