Summary

Students will be presented with an interdisciplinary overview of the history of the city from its origins in antiquity to the late fifteenth century. Although the course emphasizes the artistic achievements of the fourteenth and fifteenth centuries still visible in today’s Florence, it willlead up to these works through a consideration of their cultural context. Throughout the course, visits to local sites of relevant interest will be scheduled.
