Regional Buses

Several regional bus companies serve the outskirts of Florence and the region of Tuscany. Additional bus companies travel to other parts of Italy and elsewhere in Europe. All regional bus stations are located near the central train station, Santa Maria Novella.

Trains

The central train station in Florence, Santa Maria Novella, is just a few minutes' walk from the Institute. Trains leave every day for all destinations throughout Italy and Europe, and most trains offer both first and second class seating. Prepaid railpasses, such as Europass or Eurailpass, are available for purchase in the U.S. before you leave.

To avoid the long lines at the station, purchase your tickets at a travel agent or American Express. Often these agencies may charge a small fee for services, but it's worth it.

Always validate your train ticket in the yellow validation box at the beginning of the track before boarding.
