This course is aimed at those students who wish to learn the general language of economics along with the study of Spanish economics and that of the main Latin- American countries through a great variety of activities. Also, the differences in culture and protocol for doing business with the Spanish and with the Latin-Americans will be studied. The methodology is eclectic, focusing on communicative and structuralist classroom tasks; that is, individual work is as much emphasised as group work. Finally, material will be included related to the subjects analysed in each unit to develop tasks on the Internet. We wish to emphasise that the course contents may help to prepare several subjects included in the exams organised by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Madrid for the attainment of the Superior Certificate and/or Diploma of Business Spanish. SUBJECT 3: SPAIN: The farming industry. LATIN AMERICA: Chile. SUBJECT 4: SPAIN: The fishing industry. LATIN AMERICA: Brazil. SUBJECT 5: SPAIN: The industrial sector. LATIN AMERICA: Peru. SUBJECT 6: SPAIN: The types of societies. LATIN AMERICA: Colombia. SUBJECT 7: SPAIN: The financial sector. LATIN AMERICA: Venezuela. SUBJECT 8: SPAIN: Tourism and the environment. LATIN AMERICA: Central America. Panama. SUBJECT 9: SPAIN: Spanish investments in overseas trade. SUBJECT 10: SPAIN: Interior and overseas trade. LATIN AMERICA: Cuba. Activities. Students will carry out a series of written and oral exercises based on the proposed subjects in the syllabus, including specifically prepared texts along with the selected texts. Also, short debates and discussions will be organised in class based on the topics related to each country, and also on a special topic to be prepared assigned to groups of two students. The duration of the activities will vary depending on each exercise. The debates should not last longer than twenty minutes. Assessment This will fundamentally depend on a final exam which will be 60% of the total mark. Attention and participation in class will be 20%. Essays, exercises and programmed activities to be done at home will be another 20%. The course is geared toward students wishing to learn about the language and the general economy as essential elements of the economies of Spain and the principal Latin American countries across a variety of activities. The course will also study the differences of business culture and protocol of Spaniards and Latin Americans. The methodological direction is eclectic, as it combines the approach of homework and the communicative approach; that is, individual work is used as much as group study. Finally, contents are included to develop tasks through Internet and in connection with the subjects analyzed in each unit.
It is important to note that the contents of the course can help to prepare students to take the tests organized by the Chamber of Commerce and Industry of Madrid to obtain the Superior Certificate and/or Spanish Diploma of Business.

The student will make a series of oral and written exercises on subjects proposed in class, based on selected texts and those specifically chosen. Also, small debates and discussions in class related to each country will also be organized as special projects assigned to groups of two students. The duration of the activities will be variable depending on each exercise. The debates do not have to last more than 20 minutes.
The evaluation of the course will fundamentally depend on the accomplishment of a final examination that is worth 60%. Class participation will be worth 20%. Homework will make up the final 20%.

Este curso se dirige a aquellos que desean aprender tanto el lenguaje de la economía en general como los contenidos propios de la economía española y la de los principales países latinoamericanos a través de una gran variedad de actividades. Asimismo, se estudian las diferencias culturales y de protocolo para hacer negocios con iberoamericanos y españoles. La orientación metodológica es ecléctica, ya que combina el enfoque por tareas, el enfoque comunicativo y las actividades de corte estructuralista; o sea, favorece tanto el trabajo individual como la labor en grupos. Finalmente, se incluyen contenidos para desarrollar tareas a través de Internet y en conexión con los temas analizados en cada unidad.
Merece destacarse que los contenidos del curso pueden ayudar a preparar diversos capítulos de los temarios de los exámenes organizados por la Cámara de Comercio e Industria de Madrid para la obtención del Certificado Superior y/o Diploma de Español de los Negocios.

El alumno realizará una serie de ejercicios orales y escritos en torno a los temas propuestos en la programación, tanto de textos seleccionados como de otros preparados expresamente. Asimismo, se organizarán pequeños debates y discusiones en clase en torno a los temas relacionados con cada país y también al haber preparado un trabajo especial asignado a grupos de dos alumnos. La duración de las actividades será muy variable dependiendo de cada ejercicio. Los debates no deben durar más de 20 minutos.
La evaluación del curso fundamentalmente dependerá de la realización de un examen final que supondrá un 60%. La atención y participación en clase supondrá un 20%. Los trabajos, ejercicios y actividades programadas para su realización en casa supondrán otro 20%.
