This course studies the Spanish geographic reality, its originality, natural environment, climate, population, etc. The course is offered only in the fall semester.

1. Originality and variety in the Iberian peninsula.
2. The natural environment as a determining factor of the Hispanic landscape.
3. The Spanish climate.
4. The Spanish plant life landscape.
5. Spain, crossroads of people and evolution of the Spanish population.
6. The Spanish population and its present-day distribution.
7. Farm worker’s habitat and rural dwelling.
8. Origin and evolution of the cities. Urban functions.
9. The Spanish economy and its evolution.
10. The physical environment and historic factors in relation to farming.
11. Agriculture and stockbreeding in the wet areas of Spain.
12. Agriculture and stockbreeding in the dry areas of Spain.
13. The Spanish industry: historical evolution and characteristics.
14. Sources of energy and industrial raw materials.
15. Spanish industrial regions.
16. Spanish interior communications.
17. The problems of the Spanish balance of payments.
18. The Spanish foreign trade.
19. Tourism: characteristics and problems.
20. Spanish tourist regions.

Assessment
Depending on the development of the classes, the teacher will propose exams and assessments suitable to the student’s levels. There will be at least one mid-term exam and another final exam.

  6. The Spanish population and its present distribution. Migratory movements.
  7. Habitat farmer and rural homes.
  8. Origin and evolution of the cities. Urban functions.
  9. The Spanish economy and its evolution.
  10. The average physicist and the historical factors in relation to farming activities.
  11. Agriculture and cattle ranch of humid Spain.
  12. Agriculture and cattle ranch of dry Spain.
  13. Spanish industry: historical evolution and characteristics.
  14. Industrial power plants and raw materials.
  15. Spanish industrial regions.
  16. Spanish interior communications.
  17. Problems of the Spanish balance of payments.
  18. Spanish foreign trade.
  19. Tourism: characteristics and problems.
  20. Spanish tourist regions.

3. Evaluation

The professor of the subject will propose the examinations and evaluations adapted to the formation of the student. There will be, at least, a partial examination and another end.

  10. El medio físico y los factores históricos en relación con las actividades agropecuarias.
  11. Agricultura y ganadería de la España húmeda.
  12. Agricultura y ganadería de la España seca.
  13. La industria Española: evolución histórica y características.
  14. Fuentes de energía y materias primas industriales.
  15. Regiones industriales españolas.

3. Evaluación

Dependiendo del desarrollo mismo de las clases, el profesor de la asignatura propondrá los exámenes y evaluaciones adecuados a la formación del alumno. Serán, al menos, un examen parcial y otro final.
