Summary

The students will be provided with the scope for linguistic reflection and usage with the fundamental aim of teaching the student discourse production. Comments on and analysis of speech functions, as much in oral expression as in written texts, along with the integrated skills, will provide the student with the control instruments to be involved in discourse-linguistic production.

Syllabus
The content of the following sections will be distributed throughout the course, both oral and written simultaneously as certain questions (scientific presentation, line of argument, etc) affect both.
I. Written production: analysis and production of the written text. Analysis will be centred on the importance of the text, textual sequences, discourse connectors, lexical selection and register. Likewise, models of information, narration, description, commentary, line of argument, etc. Different types of texts will be taken into account. Analysis may also be extended to literary texts, the texts themselves or texts which illustrate some of the before-mentioned particulars. Linguistic difficulties will be detected and the students will be encouraged to form critical opinions. In as much as written production, from selected texts, the student must acquaint him or herself with the topic (which involves supplementary reference work, synthesis of content, etc,) elaborate an outline and write.

II. Oral production: Given that the greater part of the technical questions referred to in the previous paragraph are for oral discourse in more formal situations, the analysis and practice now will be centred on “presentation of a topic”, on the part of the students, with special attention on academic topics.However, variations on topics, audience or aims will be considered (presentation, persuasion, etc.) This involves: motivation in the selection of a topic, search for sources, organisation and cohesion of the presentation, attention to lexical items, argument and summary with the written opinion on the subject. The teacher will pay special attention to the linguistic means used and their suitability and will encourage error analysis.

Analysis and conversational practise. The characteristics of oral interaction and the dynamics of habitual oral exchanges will be dealt with: register, phraseology, lexical questions related to idiomatic expressions, and their suitability for communication. The teacher will select topics and conversational situations for the
student to observe and practise, paying special attention to the linguistic means utilised. The teacher will hand out the programme at the beginning of the course where the subject matters to be used will be listed, and where the content of each session or series of sessions will appear.
- Knowledge and skills to be acquired.
- Text or speech act used as an example, if there is one.
- Questions to acquire the technical-linguistic knowledge on the part of the student.
- Tasks the student must carry out for practise.

Assessment
Depending on the development of the classes the course teacher will make assessments suitable to the development of the student. Class participation will be taken into account along with task fulfilment. At least two exams will be set.

1. Introducción

Se proporcionará al alumnado un ámbito de reflexión y uso lingüístico con el objetivo primordial de que se capacite para la producción discursiva. La observación sobre el funcionamiento del discurso y análisis del mismo, tanto en manifestaciones orales como en textos escritos, así como la adopción integrada de destrezas, dotarán al alumno de los instrumentos de control que le permita implicarse en la pretendida producción lingüístico – discursiva.

Para el Curso de Estudios de Lengua y Cultura Españolas, es profesor de la asignatura adoptará para el grupo correspondiente los materiales objeto de análisis, así como la explicación de los contenidos lingüísticos, que sean acordes con los niveles Intermedio y Avanzado, según la siguiente correspondencia: al grupo A corresponde a Intermedio B; el grupo B, a Avanzado A.

2. Programa

Se distribuye a lo largo del curso el contenido de los siguientes bloques, simultaneando lo referido a lo oral y lo escrito, ya que determinadas cuestiones (exposición científica, argumentación, etc.) afectan a ambos:

I. Producción escrita: análisis y producción del texto escrito.

En cuanto al análisis, la actividad se sentrará en la consideración del tema, las secuencias textuales, los conectores discursivos, la selección del léxico y el registro.

Igualmente los modelos de información, narración, descripción, comentario, argumentación, etc. Se tendrán en cuenta diversos tipos de textos. El análisis puede ampliarse también a textos literarios, bien considerados en sí mismos, o bien como ejemplificadores de algunos de los pormenores anteriores.

Se detectarán las dificultades lingüísticas y se fomentará la emisión de juicios críticos por parte del alumno.

En cuanto a la producción del texto, a partir de temas seleccionados, el alumno deberá hacerse con un conocimiento del tema (lo que lleva anejo consultas, síntesis de contenidos, etc.), elaborar un plan-esquema y redactar.

II. Producción oral.

1. Análisis y práctica de la intervención oral.

Dado que gran parte de las cuestiones técnicas aludidas en el aparato anterior sirve para el discurso oral en las situaciones más formales, la actividad de análisis y puesta en práctica se centrará ahora en la “exposición de un tema” por parte de los alumnos, con especial atención a aquellos de carácter académico. No obstante, se atenderán variaciones según posibles temas, auditorio u objetivos (exposición, persuasión, etc.). Esto implica: motivación en la elección del tema, búsqueda de Fuentes, organización y cohesión de la exposición, atención al léxico, debate y resumen con la opinión escrita sobre el tema.

El profesor llamará la atención sobre los medios lingüísticos empleados y su adecuación, y propiciará el análisis de errores.
2. Análisis y práctica conversational.

Se abordarán las características de las interacciones orales y la dinámica de los intercambios orales habituales: registros, fraseología, cuestiones léxicas relacionadas con idiomatismos, haciéndose ver la pertinencia o adecuación para la comunicación, de las distintas posibilidades de uso con que cuenta el hablante.

El profesor elegirá temas y situaciones conversacionales para que el alumno observe y ponga en práctica, llamando la atención sobre los medios lingüísticos empleados.

El modo en que el profesor haya distribuido la material quedará reflejado en el programa que entregará al alumno al comienzo del curso, y donde se hará constatar para cada sesión o serie de sesiones:
- Conocimientos y destrezas que se pretenden conseguir.
- Texto o intervención oral utilizada como ejemplo, si lo hay.
- Consultas que faciliten los conocimientos técnico-lingüísticos por parte del alumno.
- Tareas que debe realizar para ejercitarse con la práctica.

3. Evaluación

Dependiendo del desarrollo mismo de las clases, el profesor de la asignatura propondrá evaluaciones adecuadas a la formación del alumno. Se tendrá muy en cuenta la participación en ciase y la realización de tareas. Se realizan al menos, dos exámenes.
