After the placement exam, students enroll in 4-5 classes. All students enroll in both the Speaking and Writing Skills, and Notions of Spanish Grammar courses. Students also enroll in 2-3 additional elective courses of their choosing.

  • A variety of electives are offered in Spanish for students placing into the Intermediate language level.
  • A wider selection of advanced electives are offered in Spanish to students placing into the Advanced or Superior language levels. This is generally equivalent to 4-5 semesters of university Spanish study in the US.

Each course meets for a total of 40 hours, which generally transfers to 3 credits in the US semester system. Classes meet 3 hours/week on either Monday and Wednesday, or Tuesday and Thursday. There are no classes on Friday.

Academic Year students who successfully complete five classes each semester will receive a Diploma in Hispanic Studies.

Students may choose to begin their semester with a four-week intensive language course. This course meets 4 hours/day, 5 days/week, totaling 80 hours. This generally transfers to 5 credits in the US semester system. At the end of the course, students take a new placement exam to place in the appropriate track.
