OBJECTIVESTo learn about the process by which directors build, evaluate and modify formal organizations in order to carry out the necessary tasks and activities to reach set objectives effectively and efficiently.
COURSE DESCRIPTIONAn introduction to the concept of organization, structure (formal and informal) and basic concepts of organization design. Elements of organization design: decisions of diversity and integration. Analysis of the principal contingent factors in design (strategy, technology, size, environment and image). Forms of organization structure: functional, divisional, matrix, etc.
METHODOLOGYParticipative with analysis of case studies and group exercises.
EVALUATIONContinuous assessment, taking into consideration student contribution (attendance and participation), individual and/or group work, presentation and final exam.
