Full Description
OBJECTIVES A critical analysis of the state of the law in all its aspects, as well as a consideration of the meaning and scope of justice and the fundamental values of the legal system. Knowledge and analysis of the origins, fundamentals and influences of contemporary philosophical thought, in order to get a better understanding of the state and condition of the current legal situation.
COURSE DESCRIPTION 1. Legal gnoseology, philosophical study of law: initial questions, knowledge of law, philosophy of law. 2. Legal ontology: the legal situation, imminence and transcendence in law. 3. Legal axiology: justice, values and objectives of law, human rights. An introduction to biolaw.
METHODOLOGY Class discussion and dialogue, based on prior preparation, with other class dynamics: presentations of research work, reading texts for class commentary, commentaries on texts and practical work.
EVALUATION Class participation and obligatory presentations: 20%. Obligatory mid-term tests: 20% of the grade of this mid-term exam). Mid-term exam each semester: 50%, (of the grade of this mid-term exam) If each exam is passed, each one will be an average of 35% of the final exam. Individual research work: 10%. Final course exam (June): 70% (of the final grade). All the students must prepare a presentation of 15 to 20 minutes on a topic determined by the professor. The individual research work will be optional by agreement with the professor.
