Aggression and violence are prominent topics both in academia and in society. In this seminar we will study how the emergence of aggression can be explained from a socio-psychological perspective. A special focus will be placed upon learning theories of aggression that understand aggression as a behavior that is developed and shaped by learning experiences. In the second part of the seminar, socio-psychological theories will be applied to everyday phenomena of aggression, such as media influences on aggression and the prevention of aggression and violence in schools.
