Summary

AIMS AND CONTENT
“Honour“ is a key theme of the anthropology of the Mediterranean societies since the 1960ies, but the recent so-called „killings in the name honour“ have made it clear that this question concerns immigrants and natives in today’s Germany as well. The course will introduce into several perspectives on what is „honour“.

TEACHING METHODS
Seminar with group discussions, research travel, workshops, ac-companied by directed reading and study on your own. Presentation and critiques of selected texts.

ASSESSMENT METHODS
Participation in the discussion, oral presentation of a theme plus a short written paper.
