Full Description

After the civil wars of the late Roman republic, Octavian/Augustus established the new system of the principate. Along with these changes in the political system came new aspects in the roman art, well known as the so-called 'augustean classicism'. It was used for political propaganda and for the self-representation of the new leader, his aims and political successes.
