During the first part of this course, different concepts of conflict resolution in society, ethnic groups and the international system will be analyzed. The second part is dedicated to the preparation of selected case studies; participants will present, via simulations and role plays, both successful and failed conflict coping processes.

This course focuses on mediation as a concept of conflict resolution; the concept will be dealt with intensively both in theory and practice via role plays and simulations. Students will investigate norm conflicts in this seminar. A practice-oriented approach aims at widening participants’ competences in conflict resolution.
