AIMS AND CONTENT Greece of the Bronze Age is the world that Homer describes in his epics Ilias and Odyssey. In the Greek motherland famous places like the palace of Pylos or the for-tress-like settlements of Tyrins or Mycenae belong next to others to that period. The latter settlement also gave the level of civilization its name: the mycenael Greece. In the lecture we want to achieve an overview over the settlements, their forms and so-cial structures. Additionally to the archaeological findings and on-site findings the early written transmissions of that time are in the centre of our interest. (Das bronzezeitliche Griechenland ist die Welt, die Homer in seinen Epen Ilias und Odyssee schildert. Im griechischen Mutterland gehören, neben anderen Fundplät-zen, so berühmte Orte wie der Palast von Pylos und die burgartigen Siedlungen von Tiryns oder Mykene zu ihr, nach letzterer erhielt die Kulturstufe sogar ihren Namen: Das mykenische Griechenland. In der Vorlesung wollen wir versuchen, uns einen Überblick über die Siedlungen, ihre Formen und Sozialstrukturen zu erarbeiten. Da-bei stehen neben den archäologischen Funden und Befunden auch die frühen schriftlichen Überlieferungen im Zentrum des Interesses.)
