Full Description

In this course students will get an overview of the origins of peace and conflict studies and its current status as an area of study, the central concepts and ideas of the discipline, several conflict theories, reasons and approach of the course offerings at the University of Marburg, as well as the interrelations of peace and conflict research and questions of peace ethics and peace education. These goals shall be achieved by covering the following: history of peace and conflict research; terms such as peace, violence, war and conflict; conflict theories; peace and conflict research; example conflicts and analyses of peace ethics and peace education. The lecture will integrate expert guest lecturers from Marburg and beyond, partly in disputations.

Held in German with tutorials in English.
