AIMS AND CONTENT The recognition of political and social trouble postcolonial societies are involved in, and the comprehension of the role women have taken to keep cultural traditions in order to maintain values and give peace to their societies, are the aim of this seminar. Postcolonial societies often struggle with the collapse of hierarchies and regulation systems within ethnic groups. Women, children, and old people seem to be the losers of the process of modernisation. But in times of political anxiety and escalation of violence women often have a peace giving role within their communities. In the process of globalization women stabilize ethnical societies by keeping cultural traditions alive and through mediation of orally transmitted values and contents of belief. (Erkenntnis der Problematiken des Postkolonialismus und die daraus resultierende instabile politische und gesellschaftliche Lage in den betroffenen Ländern. Verständ-nis für wichtige, von Frauen übernommene Aufgaben bezüglich der Wahrung des gesellschaftliches Wertekodex und der Befriedung der Gesellschaft. Postkoloniale Gesellschaften sind oft durch einen Hierarchiezerfall und den Verlust eines gemeinschaftserhaltenden Wertsystems gekennzeichnet. Frauen, Kinder und alte Menschen scheinen von dieser Destrukturierung des Alltags besonders betroffen zu sein. Dennoch oder gerade deshalb sind es überwiegend Frauen, die Gruppen, in denen sie leben, befrieden. Im Globalisierungsprozess stabilisieren Frauengruppen, die durch den Erhalt traditioneller Kulturdeterminanten und des überlieferten Werte-codex die kulturelle Tradition weiterbeleben und -geben, ethnische Gemeinschaften und deren Identität).
