Full Description

Academic work about the United Nations provides a detailed, though rather distant insight into the world organization. Most of the criticism that derives from a scientific approach might be justified, yet we often fail to recognize the inner mechanisms of decision making in international bodies. Simulations of the United Nations – so called Model UNs – are a suitable means to overcome the shortcomings of classical seminars. The seminar will provide an introduction to the United Nations system and will prepare students for participation in the simulation of a United Nations body (most likely the Security Council).
