Abroadco provides two full-day and two overnight excursions per semester. Past Abroadco excursions have included the following destinations.

Konstanz

Konstanz
An aerial view of Konstanz.

Situated on the Bodensee (Lake Constance) and less than a mile from the Switzerland, the city of Konstanz offers visitors a remarkably preserved Old Town as well as many outdoor activities. Stroll through the twisted alleys of the Altstadt and admire the majestic cathedral before you explore the lively nightlife offered in this university town. And make sure to take a boat trip on the lake to visit the island of Mainau, famous for its lush gardens.

Berlin

As the capital of the reunited Germany, as well as the scene of the dramatic events surrounding the fall of the Wall in 1999, you will have much to see such as the Bundestag (German parliament), Holocaust memorials, and remains of the Wall itself. You will visit Checkpoint Charlie, a synonym for both separation and freedom and used by John le Carré in his novels. Berlin’s vibrant cultural scene has a lot to offer as well. A wealth of museums, monuments, and theaters provide all the artistic culture you need. If you’re looking for something a little more lively, Berlin’s nightlife will provide that with a multitude of bars and clubs.

Frankfurt am Main

For many, Frankfurt is primarily "Mainhattan”, city of finance and skyscrapers, but a closer look reveals a city of many charms: picturesque houses of the beautifully restored Römerberg in the city centre and the unique "Museum Mile” along the banks of the Main river. Visit a traditional cider pub in Sachsenhausen and shop in the elegant Goethestrasse. You will also visit the city’s economic and finance center, including the Central European Bank.

Weimar

Located in the former East Germany, Weimar was the spiritual center of Germany for hundreds of years. This is where great personalities from the history of art and culture lived, such as the famous poets Goethe and Schiller. Back composed a number of pieces while working as the chamber and court organist. You can visit Goethe House and Goethe National Museum, Goethe's summer house, Schiller House, Liszt House, Weimar Art Collections in the Municipal Palace, Bauhaus Museum, Weimar New Museum, Tiefurt and Belvedere Palaces

Eisenach

Nestling between the gently rolling hills of the Thuringian Forest, Eisenach has been witness to important historical events. The birthplace of Johann Sebastian Bach at the foot of the Wartburg is not just a charming place to visit, but was also the home of the Bach family for many years. Eisenach's cultural history is of worldwide significance. Its museums, churches and memorial sites are all vivid reminders of this fascinating history. They honour the life and work of such famous figures as St. Elisabeth, Martin Luther and Johann Sebastian Bach.

Rhine River boat ride

Relax and take in the scenic views as you cruise down the Rhine River. Vineyards, castles, and small towns dot the landscape. This is definitely an experience not to be missed!
