About Nanjing: Nanjing, China (population 6.4 million) is located in the Jiangsu Provence, 300 km (186 miles) inland from Shanghai and 1200 km (720 miles) south of Beijing. Situated on the banks of the Yangtze River, Nanjing is surrounded by the Ningzheng Ridge on the remaining sides. Nanjing is important both in a historic sense and also as one of China’s wealthiest and most economically developed cities. Nanjing traces its history back more than 2,500 years and is known as the capital city of six dynasties in China’s history. Nanjing is an ideal place for students who are interested in Chinese culture and who want to explore China.

About the Nanjing Normal University: The Yangtze International Study Abroad (YISA) program is based at Nanjing Normal University (NNU). Nanjing Normal University has a student body of approximately 20,000 students, of which nearly 3,000 are international students. Run in conjunction with The University of Arizona, YISA uses NNU classroom space and facilities, with University of Arizona-approved teaching faculty. The result is a program that offers an American-style education in a Chinese setting.

Eligibility

  • Be at least 18 years of age by program start date.
  • Have graduated from high school.
  • Have a minimum GPA of 2.5 on a 4.0 scale.
