BeijingA trip to China must include Beijing! First stop, the Forbidden City. It is the largest and best preserved Imperial Palace complex in the world. Next on your list is the Great Wall, one of the Eight Wonders of the World. Take some time to stroll in one of Beijing’s many beautiful parks and temples. And don’t forget to enjoy the food – if you eat meat, then you must try the famous roast duck! ChengduDo you like pandas? Chengdu is home to the Chengdu Panda Breeding Research Center. Located in the Sichuan Province, Chengdu has a long history as a significant center of politics, commerce and military. And make to sample the famous Sichuan cuisine while there! XianXian, the eternal city, is one of the four ancient civilization capitals along with Athens, Cairo, and Rome. One of the major attractions in Xian is the Museum of Terra Cotta Warriors and Horses. These warriors and horses are the most significant archeological excavation of the 20th century. These terra cotta statues are associated with the Qin Dynasty (211-206 BC). Peking Man Site at ZhoukoudianMore than 500,000 years ago, early hominids lived in limestone caves near Zhoukoudian. Visit the site where “Peking Man” was discovered. This site is of great anthropological importance and named a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Situated 50 km (30 miles) southwest of Beijing, the site was discovered in 1921. Explore the caves where Peking Man was discovered as well as an interesting museum. ShanghaiWhen you arrive in China, you will spend your first few days in Shanghai, exploring this fascinating city. The industrial capital of China, Shanghai is also known as the "Paris of the Orient" for its shopping and culture. Make sure to take advantage of all Shanghai has to offer.
