Full Description

Aims to provide a solid grounding in ancient philosophy stressing its multiple appearances in modern philosophical problems. Readings include Heraclitus, Parmenides and Empedocles, followed by early Socratic Dialogues, The Symposium, Theaetetus, and Philebus of Plato, as well as readings from the central books of Aristotle. Democritean and Epicurean philosophy will be read via Lucretius.
