Examines writers' subjective view on their private life (with its impact on their work), their professional life (creative process, artistic environment, practical difficulties and achievements), the image they give of their own period of time with interesting figures and historical events, through memoirs, letters, autobiographical works. Among the chosen texts: Rousseau's Confessions, Chateaubriand's Mémoires d'Outre-Tombe, Voltaire's Mémoires. Taught in French.
