Investigates one of the major intellectual traditions of the 20th century and is centrally important for philosophy, political theory, aesthetics, and the theory of art. Examines the works of Horkheimer, Adorno, Marcuse, Benjamin, and Habermas. Topics include: critique of instrumental rationalism, repressive civilization, the mechanical reproduction of art, one-dimensional thought, the culture industry, and the myth of Enlightenment.
