Full DescriptionThis approach to French culture includes exposure to various aspects of French civilization (way of life, fashions, etc.) through literature, cinema and Parisian trends. Historical Figures • Joan of Arc and Anne of Brittany: Two women sacrificed for France. • François the first and Henry the IV: From the end of an era (the last of the Great) to the beginning of another. • Napoleon the 1st to Charles de Gaulle: A vision of the France’s place in the world The series of the “Greats” • The great historical figures committed to the state: Richelieu, Vauban, Colbert • The great royal mistresses: A. Sorel, D. de Poitiers, G. D’estrée, Mme de Montespan, Mme de Maintenon, la marquise de Pomadour • Some of the great explorers: Cartier, Bougainville, Carcot, P.E.
