Designed for students with a good mastery of oral and written French, this course explores the different aspects of Paris via the important works of the masters of photography.
Designed for students with a good mastery of oral and written French, this course explores the different aspects of Paris via the important works of the masters of photography (Brassaï, Cartier-Bresson, Doisneau, Kertèsz, Lartique, Sieff, Newton, Klein...). Several themes are covered: popular Paris, modernity, important events, the representation of social classes, children, Parisian women... All while expanding their understanding of daily vocabulary through the description of images, this course permits the students to acquire a more specific photographic and artistic vocabulary. Videos and films will be shown and discussed in class. Summaries of short critiques and stories in relation to the photos that are shown and analyzed develops the use of written French. This course favors a creative approach by encouraging the students themselves to produce photos, montages, videos, etc., and to present them in class.
Destiné aux étudiants qui ont une bonne maîtrise du français oral et écrit, ce course explore les différents facettes de Paris à travers les œuvres de grands maîtres de la photographie (Brassaï, Cartier-Bresson, Doisneau, Kertèsz, Lartique, Sieff, Newton, Klein...). De nombreux thèmes seront abordés : Le Paris populaire, la modernité, les grands évènements, la représentation des classes sociales, les enfants, les Parisiennes... Tout en élargissant leur connaissance du vocabulaire quotidien par la description des images, ce cours permettra aussi aux étudiants d’acquérir un vocabulaire photographique et artistique plus spécifique. Des vidéos et des films seront projetés et commentés en classe. La rédaction de petites critiques et d’histoires en relation avec les photos présentées et analysées développera la pratique du français écrit. Ce cours privilège une démarche créative en encourageant les étudiants à produire eux-mêmes des photos, photo-montage, vidéo, etc., et les présenter en classe.
