Full Description

This course will be an introduction to French literature through the reading of some of the greatest novels of the XIXth Century, the ideas and world views they echo both as form and content and the fostering of the pleasure of reading good stories (bibliography chosen by the students'): "sentimental journeys", stories of women, uncanny stories, adventure, science fiction, etc. The students will be encouraged to reset the stories in the light of our times and propose artistic reinterpretations using new illustrations, scenes' rewrites, characters' portraits, collages on the "effects of reading"...
