Full Description

Examines literary and moral problems in a selection of Platonic dialogues that influence the development of Latin and Modern European conceptions of myth and ethics in poetry. Plato's works studied include: Euthyphro, Crito, Apology, Phaedo, Phaedrus, Seventh Letter, and The Republic. The moral essays of Cicero (On Ends and Means, On Duty) re-examine Plato's qualities as a poet and moralist.
