Full Description

This is a cycle of nine lectures, with an approach including as many times as possible enlargements toward the general context of civilization (way of living, habits, etc.), literature, cinema and the Parisian references.

This class (lectures, visual documents, vocabulary explanations) is aimed at level A1 and A2 students, but level B students can still follow the class.

A test will cover the first part of the program and a second one will take place during the last session on the rest of the program. Those tests will occur during the first part of the class. On days like this, there will be a lecture and a test.

Historical characters

  • Two women sacrificed to France: Joan of Arc and Anne of Britanny
  • Francis I and Henry IV: from the end of an era (the last of the great Valoy) to the beginning of another one (Ist of the Bourbons)
  • Louis XIV and Versailles, Napoleon I and Charles de Gaulle: a vision of the place of France in the world

The series of the "greats"

  • Some great names of the State: Richelieu, Vauban, Colbert
  • Women from the dark or the light: Madame de Montespan, Madame de Maintenon, the marquise de Pompadour
Depending on the time taken with the other session, this one may be deleted:
  • Some great explorers: Cartier, Bougainville, Charcot, P.E Victor

The Knowledge

  • The Sorbonne and some of its characters: Robert de Sorbon, Héloïse et Abélard, Pasteur, Marie Curie, P de Coubertin
