Summary


Full Description

An examination of the daily life of Parisians, in their personal and professional environments, studied in three important periods. A variety of texts (chronicles, correspondance, novels, etc.) is used to testify to the diversity of urban experience and to illuminate life in the French capital. Taught in French. Students submitting written work in French will be given ES/FS credit; those submitting written work in English will be given ES credit.

Les Parisiens sont présentés dans leur environnement (la ville, la maison) et dans leurs occupations familiales et professionnelles, comme dans leurs passe-temps quotidiens, à travers des écrits divers (chroniques, correspondances, oeuvres romanesques, etc.) On esquissera ainsi la physionomie de la capitale et de ses habitants dans leur diversité.
