Exposes students to specific issues of medieval art, focusing on art of limited periods, geographic areas, or particular media. Present topics include: Early Christian and Byzantine Art; Romanesque Art in Europe; Gothic Art in Northern France; and Painting the Written Word: Gothic Illuminated Manuscripts. Appropriate study trips planned for each course.
