Full Description

Starting from the end of the XIXth Century, this course will recreate the Paris Mystique, show how historical, economical and cultural events built its appeal for travelers from all over the world, analyze and deconstruct the functioning of this myth in different media (cinema, literature, tourists’ guides..), on the students themselves, on other foreigners arriving in the French capital… Students’ class projects will test and investigate the validity of this myth and be presented to the class. May be taught in English.
