The Intensive French and Liberal Arts in English (IFLA) program is taught entirely at the Institut Catholique.  This program is geared towards students who want to study both the French language  while taking liberal arts electives in English or French.  Students will take an online placement exam prior to arrival in Paris.  Students will receive immediate notification of the general language level although the official placement will not take place until student arrive in Paris.   Students will take a general French language class and select up to three electives in English (3 semester credits each) or French (3 semester credits each).  Courses are offered in art history, economics, film studies, political science, and religion.  Course options may change without notice.

Each student will take 15 hours per week of classes.  Abroadco has estimated that the credits will transfer as 13 semester credits.  The 15 hours will be divided as follows:

Beginner: 12 hrs/week +  one electives for 15 hrs/wk.
Elementary: 9 hrs/week + two electives (15 hrs/week)
Intermediate: 9 hrs/week + two electives (15 hrs/week)
Advanced and Superior: 6hrs/week  + three electives (15 hrs/week)

Students have the option of taking more electives for an additional fee.  One additional elective (3 semester credits) will be an additional $1150 and 2 additional electives will be $2350.

Students have the option of adding an intensive French language course to the beginning of their semester.  In September, the French class meets for 30 hours/week (6 credits) and in February the class meets 21 hours/week (4 credits).  Please contact Abroadco for the supplemental fee information.
