Abroadco offers Academic Year and Semester Language and Electives (LE) sessions in Paris. The Language and Electives track is taught at both American University of Paris (AUP) and University of Paris-Sorbonne. After arriving in Paris, students take a placement exam at the Sorbonne to determine their language level. Students are assigned to either the Beginner, Intermediate, Advanced I, or Advanced II level. All students enroll in the Cours Pratique French language program at the Sorbonne. During the semester, 10 hours/week are devoted to grammar, reading, and writing comprehension. Along with this, students also enroll in the equivalent of 2.5 hours/week of language lab and phonetics. These courses form a module, and each class must be completed in order for a final grade to be issued. Students meet for a total of 140 contact hours, which generally transfers to 9-10 credits in the US semester system. Students also enroll in 1-2 electives taught in English at American University of Paris (AUP). One elective/semester is included in the program price. A second elective costs an additional $3995. Each elective meets 3 hours/week and is worth 4 semester credits.
