Its grand boulevards will satisfy your cosmopolitan urges, while its winding alleys immediately make you feel at home. You will quickly get to know the local shopkeepers at your neighborhood boulangerie and bistros, while the city at large will never cease to offer you new excitement and surprises. As the center of all things French, Paris will immerse you into the French language and culture, and offer you an unparalleled study abroad experience.
About the American University of Paris: Founded in 1962, The American University of Paris (AUP) is the oldest American institution of higher learning in Europe. An independent college of liberal arts and sciences, AUP is accredited in the U.S. by the Commission on Higher Education of the Middle States Association of Colleges and Schools. AUP is an urban university, with six buildings centrally located in the seventh arrondissement of Paris, on the Left Bank, near the Eiffel Tower and the Seine. Like many urban American and European universities, the campus of AUP is spread throughout the area, mixing with the surrounding neighborhood. Among the many services and amenities AUP provides is a bookstore, computer labs, and library.
About the Catholic University of Paris: The Institut Catholique de Paris was founded in 1875 and is located in the heart of Paris, the Latin Quarter. The University has a traditional campus and includes 6 faculties and 11 schools of higher education. Abroadco students will take courses at the French Language and Culture Institute (ILCF), one of the departments at the Institut.
About the University of Paris-Sorbonne: The Sorbonne was founded in 1257 by Robert de Sorbon, who was chaplain to the King of France, Saint Louis. The school first served economically disadvantaged students, and quickly grew to be known as a center of philosophical and political thought. The university was closed in 1791 during the French Revolution, and re-opened in 1821. At the close of the 19th century, it was rebuilt on the same site and was rebaptized the "New Sorbonne." Today, the Sorbonne is the universal symbol of the French university system, and to the French it represents the future of France's intellectual prowess. Abroadco students attend classes at the University's Cours de Civilisation Française facility, located in Paris's charming Latin Quarter.
