Includes basic chemical concepts such as elements, atoms, isotopes, ionic and covalent bonding, acids and bases, the pH scale, oxidation and reduction. Discusses some physical chemistry. Examines atmospheric chemistry: photo chemistry, aerosols, air pollution and its effects, as well as soil and water chemistry: heavy metals, contamination and purification.
