The Summer French Language (SFL) track at the Catholic University of Paris is for students who wish to spend 1, 2, or 3 months in Paris studying French. Students can combine two 4-week sessions to earn additional credits.
June Session
During the June session, students take a French language class (15 hours per week) and 2 workshops (6 hours per week total) in oral and written French. Students earn 5-6 semester credits during this session.
July Session
During the July session, students can choose from several options:
- French language (15 hours per week) and 2-3 workshops (6 hours per week total) in oral and written French, for the equivalent of 5-6 semester credits. Students take French language class Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with workshops on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
- Written French language (15 hours per week) plus 2 workshops (6 hours per week total) in oral French, phonetics, written French, or culture and civilization. The workshops will depend on the student's level and ability. Students take Written French Monday-Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with workshops on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
- Business French is offered during the July session. Students must place at the intermediate level or higher. Students will meet for 18 hours per week. The objective of this course is to be able to speak French for a professional purpose and have a better understanding of the situation of French companies.
- Cinema Program is offered during the July session only and requires a minimum of 14 students. Intermediate French is recommended and the program meets for 15 hours per week. The objective is to introduce students to the language and aesthetics of cinema.
August Session
During the August session, students can choose from several options:
- French language (15 hours per week) and 2-3 workshops (6 hours per week total) in oral and written French, for the equivalent of 5-6 semester credits. Students take French language class Monday - Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 12:00 noon, with workshops on Tuesday and Thursday from 2:00-5:00 p.m.
